Welcome to CATASTROPHY
Hey there!
After 19 unforgettable years with my boys, Tuna and Caesar, they were suddenly gone. Even though I knew it was coming, the loss hit me like nothing I’d ever felt. Everywhere I looked, everything was just as it always had been—but without them. Every corner held a reminder: a magazine still lying on the floor where they used to sit, an untouched water bowl, and my bed, empty for the first time in so long.
I was crying and screaming until there was nothing left. My mouth was open, my body shaking, but the sound was gone—spent, emptied. I was still desperate to scream, but all that came out was silence. I didn’t know that’s what happens when you’re this broken.
For what felt like an eternity, I held onto a bit of their fur, not knowing what to do with it. Then, like a spark, the idea of Mourning Jewellery came to me. I searched everywhere for something that felt right, but nothing matched what I needed. I wanted something bold, with a hint of rock 'n' roll—something that would rock my outfit no matter what I wore, so I could wear it every day and keep my boys close. So, I decided to make it myself. And that’s how Catastrophy was born.
Our journey began with what was traditionally known as Mourning Jewellery, inspired by the Victorian tradition of commemorating loved ones. In our collection, I now call it Tribute Jewellery—a way to keep your cat close, whether they’re here or in memory. With time, our collection has expanded to embrace pieces that reflect the special connection we share with our cats.
I hope you find something here that speaks to you, that honours your love as fiercely as you live it.
Lots of love,
Yuko xx
